I really did not need to go to the ER last night. We just go bored and went visiting from 9pm til 12:30am. I was back in the same room I had been in 3 weeks ago when I went for my hear attack. They checkied me out and verything looked good so I was glad to come home and get a good night sleep. I am getting a lot of rest. I seem to be pretty good at that.

Friday 7:31 AM
Rose was having a high heart rate about 8pm last night so after about 45 minutes we visited ER.they ran all the normal test and everything was good and the heart rate dropped back to 74 by 10:00 or so. After test results everything looked good and (I was froze)they relesed her to come home.
She is doing fine this morning and taking a nap, waiting for the soaps.
I told her I thought it was all those NCSI and murders stuff she was watching.Ha
I feel better knowing she had a good check out before I go home tomorrow.

I'm not good at this blogging!!! I have to try 3 times before I remember to save and post.
Rose has had a good day. Leg is swollen a little today but Dr. said it would swell for 3 to 6 months.
she has watched soaps etc. and I found my way to Sam's, drug store and WalMart plus a couple of $ stores. Boy am I tired. Ran no stop sign today, That was an improvement for me. yesterday I ran a couple that were 4 way, ha at least the other 3would have had to stop.

Rose went in to have the clamps out. The Dr. took every other one out. She is to go back thursday to get the others out. Rose says Yes!! it did hurt. that we all lied. I didn't feel a thing.
He said the heart attck that happen before surgery did some damage to the lower part of the heart but he was hoping the heart would repair some of the damage.
s
She is watching soaps, eating good, napping and sleeping good at night.
She is easy to help.

Rose is up and waiting for the Sears man to come and adjust her treadmill. It is going too slow (haha). I tried it and it was too show on 2 setting and too fast on 3. Needless to say I walked on 2 for 5 minutes. Rose is doing good and ready to ride out for a few minutes. Will do that tomorrow.

Jackie and Jerry came by to visit before heading to the beach for Jerry to cut grass, etc. She is doing well today, had her lunch and watching her soaps. She is getting her 5 minutes in on the treadmill four times a day. She seems a little tired now so probably ready for a nap as soon as her soaps are over. Ann is doing an excellent job of watching over her to keep her from doing too much.

Thursday 8:30
Rose up early, had coughing spell during the night and didn't sleep to sound. She is napping away this morning. The excitment of being home tired her out. I told her she didn't have to do the dishes last night but, she insisted. Get this picture, " Ann sitting back reading a book and Rose doing dishes." I laughted and told her it use to be the other way around. I'll try to do better today and answer the door when the nurse comes by.

Home nurse came by to check on Rose and couldn't find his paient because she had answered the door. ha I was fixing lunch.
He couldn't believe she was doing so well.
He said she had the longest incision in the leg he had ever seen. 96 clamps and 26 stitches to hold it together. She had 22 clamps in the neck. They all looked good.
They are to take them out next Tuesday.
My job here is to keep her from going back to work and cutting the grass before I leave on the 1st. She has more nurses coming by tomorrow.

3pm
Heart doctor finally came by (not the primary one but one from that office covering). He said no discharge today, maybe tomorrow. She is real tired and lethargic. Doctor said the meds for A-fib was probably causing that and would decrease dosage level. She was so tired she could hardly stay awake to watch the "soaps" today. Otherwise, doing ok--no pain, walking 4 times daily up and down hall and lung capacity is good. Appetite is good. Ann will be here later this evening so she may be able to perk her up some.

Good day today. Blood sugar levels have been around 114 all day until a little while ago. Latest was 207. Had not had any insulin all day but most likely will be given some tonight. No irregular heart rates today (a-fib). She is sleeping now. Had several naps during the day. It's quiet around here on the weekends. We should still be set for discharge tomorrow provided nothing goes crazy between now and then.

Saturday
It must have been that perky nurse's off day because we got to sleep until 8 this morning. She said she slept pretty good but leg hurts when she turns on her side when she sleeps. Blood sugar is 162 this morning-- down from 255 last night. They say the meds to regulate heart rate
may be driving the blood sugar up. They stopped that med at 6 this morning for a while. No doctor yet. Never saw heart doctor yesterday. They did say the surgeon would come by and remove the pacemaker lead wires. Once that's done she can take a real shower. She is starting her breathing treatment now. Hope breakfast will be here soon...

Update
It's 7:30pm and no heart doctor seen today. He is MIA so no word on when she will be discharged. Coughing is almost gone. She walked down the hall and back 4 times. She still has IV for irregular heart rate. Beginning to get restless and ready to be discharged. Her appetite is good. They even brought me breakfast and supper tray--not bad. Hope doctor comes soon.

Friday 7/17
had a good night except for the perky nurse who came in at 5am flipping on the lights and telling us good morning in a very loud voice. No one else came around until 7am. She is able to sit up by herself and walk a few feet to the chair and bathroom. Dr said xray show chest is clearing and she can go home when cardiologist ok's it. I expect that will be Sat or Sunday.

Oh No... It's a HEART ATTACK
This blog is used to provide an update on Rose Purser Montgomery. She had a heart attack Thursday, July 9, 2009. She is currently in the hospital and is recovering nicely. Here's a brief history of events (very brief)...
Friday, 7/10/09
She was taken to the hospital Thursday (July 9), late afternoon with chest pains. While there she suffered a heart attack. They tried angioplasties but was only able to clear one of the blockages. She had triple bypass surgery during the night. She is currently in ICU and is on a ventilator, has a heart pump, and an external pacemaker. She is alert and able to write us notes. She complains of being hot. The temperature in her room is 55 degrees plus she is having cold wash clothes (dipped in ice water) on her forehead. Jackie is traveling back from North Carolina. Connie, Wayne, Randy, and Debbie are all at the hospital with her--visiting during visiting hours.
Saturday, 7/11/09
Jackie arrived about noon. She continues on the ventilator and heart pump and still complains that she is hot. You could hang meat in the room (55 degrees). She is becoming tired of the ventilator and all the hoses.
Sunday, 7/12/09
No significant change. She continues with heart pump, external pacemaker, and ventilator.
Monday, 7/13/09
The heart pump and external pacemaker were removed. She continues in ICU. Debbie returned home to take care of some appointments, etc. but will return Wed, 7/15.
Tuesday, 7/14/09
Finally, the ventilator is removed. Her throat is so sore, she is very "horse." She has developed some bronchitis in her lungs and an antibiotic was started.
Wednesday, 7/15/09
Debbie returned about noon and Jackie left to return back to work. Wayne left also. She is improving greatly since the ventilator has been removed. About 6:30pm she is moved to a regular room but encountered problems with staff change over. It was a long night of coughing, trying to get staff assistance, etc. Had to have several "breathing treatments" during the night to help with the congestion.
Thursday, 7/16/09
After a very long night, she finally started breathing better. She was able to have the oxygen discontinued and walked down the hall with the rehabilitation staff. She is now talking about when she can go home. Her voice is good and she has a good appetite. They are talking about possibly going home Saturday if she continues improving.
I'll post updates on this blog as I can. Once she gets home, I'll have her (or Ann) start posting updates. (Oh Ann is coming Monday, 7/20/09, evening to help out for a few weeks. I've set up a wireless network at the house so she can use a laptop to read mail, etc.
